Ferragosto in Misano: fun and political celebration

Every year in Misano Adriatico the 15th August is expected in order to release beach parties.

Ferragosto is divided between fun and a political recurrence: today the 15th August is celebrated with beach parties, buckets of water, out-of-town travels and events organized outdoors, ignoring the Ferragosto is a political anniversary set by Emperor Augustus in 18 a. C. to celebrate the harvest and the end of the main agricultural work.

The ancient Ferragosto, in addition to the purpose of political self-promotion, has been established with the express purpose of providing an adequate period of rest required after the enormous efforts during the harvest.
